Need a little help buying for that lady in your life? I recruited my main squeeze to create a “favorites” list that could please a variety of women, be it your spouse, mom, girlfriend…sister? I’m a chronic over-thinker when it comes to buying gifts for my wife, but I mostly just make mental notes when she mentions something and later make an actual list in my phone! She so kindly informed me that her main wish for this year is on this list, but she hasn’t told me which one it is…send help.
We love to support local (to our state) artisans whenever we can, and you really can’t go wrong with a classic bangle. These are handmade in Lexington, Kentucky, and she also makes matching sizes for little girls and babies. My wife and daughter have matching bangles, and they literally “never take them off,” which is this brand’s motto. There’s several designs to choose from!
For some reason, my wife hates to be barefoot in the winter. I can attest that her toes are often the same temperature as an eskimo’s. As silly as I’ve always thought Uggs look, she’s been through a few pairs of these slippers in the more than decade that we’ve been together, and swears by them.
Who has to know if it’s coffee or wine? The Yeti brand speaks for itself and is safe for carpool and camping alike.
Mark and Graham is a company I’d never heard of. (Same grouping of brands as Pottery Barn, Williams-Sonoma, etc.) but they specialize in personalized gifts. I still haven’t figured out what all they need to carry in there, but my wife says you can’t go wrong with a monogrammed leather tote. Just think of all the mysterious things they can hide in there! In my wife’s case, 14 different shades of lipstick.
Spartina 449 is a brand that we discovered when we lived in South Carolina, as it’s based out of one of the state’s border islands. This particular wallet is really good for the “mom” who constantly switches from diaper bag to purse, etc. It can double as a clutch/wristlet and hold a cell phone, and tons of cards.
This is supposed to be the softest robe…ever. If your wife (or mom, even) likes a robe, this is an easy choice.
Lush products are an easy win, even if you don’t have a bathtub (which eliminates bath bombs). There’s plenty of other girly pampering items to choose from, all of which smell good and have catchy names. There are also pre-packaged gift sets: idiot-proof shopping!
Mark and Graham Again…Apparently anything camo and leopard print is extremely popular these days.
If your wife is the master planner of her family, or maybe you have a family member who is a chronic “list-maker,” Erin Condren products make any hectic schedule a little easier to manage.
If you’re brave enough to buy shoes for a female, Rothy’s are increasingly popular and are apparently made of recycled water bottles. They come in lots of fun colors and styles and are machine-washable. My wife loves hers and says they’re a comfortable flat for everyday wear.
I bought my wife some Soma Pajamas a few Christmases back after she dropped a few hints that she was tired of sleeping in old t-shirts, and she’s always made it clear that they are her favorite. They’re apparently really soft and wash well.
Even if your wife has one of everything, I bet she doesn’t have a custom drawing of your family. There are several artists on Etsy, and I thought this was a unique idea for a “Mom” you love, even if it requires a little digging of a good photo of everyone. Or check out local (Louisville!) artist, South House Ink, to commission a custom drawing of your family pet or home!
Laura has family in Texas, which is where James Avery Designs originated. Her cousins and Aunt have given her gifts from this brand in the past and she has always mentioned how great the quality is.
