The Well Clad Dad

Functional, Affordable, Stylish Clothes for the modern dude.

Welcome to Well Clad Dad! I’m Render Parkman, and to even call myself a life + style blogger makes me laugh. (It certainly made my wife roll her eyes a few times.) But here I am! I’m a thirty-something dad of two, a dental professional (DMD), I run my own practice (with my awesome DMD wife), and I’m a Major in the United States Air Force Reserves. I’m a true Southern boy at heart, a former college athlete, a weekend golf warrior, and a college sports junkie. You might be wondering what in the world I think I’m doing modeling men’s clothes on the ‘gram. Here’s a little background on what landed us this blog:

To be honest, the past few years of my life could be summed up as “in the weeds.” My wife and I skidded out of my active duty military career with a 6 month old baby girl, a cross-country move, and a brand new business to run. We proceeded to buy a second dental practice and have a second child less than two years later. Needless to say, it’s been hectic. We’ve been working really hard trying to raise kids and take good care of people and build a profitable business, all the while trying to juggle responsibilities with the Air Force, church, relationships, and life.

About a year ago my wife joked that I no longer cared about my appearance and the “dapper Southern gentleman” she married got shoved in the back of the closet somewhere. In all honesty, I was tired. We wear scrubs to work most days and our church is pretty broad-spectrum in it’s dress expectations, so I got lazy in my efforts to “put my best foot forward.” I noticed my wife had some instagram accounts she followed religiously that give her ideas on affordable, fashion-forward, mom-appropriate clothes. I had no idea what a fashion blogger or an Amazon Haul was, but I spent several days looking for a male counterpart to these ladies that could help make it easy to spruce up my wardrobe. Well, no such luck. Sure, you can find some men modeling high-end Italian leather shoes and fancy watches, but no one I felt I could relate to. With a little encouragement from my wife (who loves fashion and is constantly pulling something out of her closet that I’ve never seen before…) and a few others, we decided to take to the social media universe with a little southern charm, dapper style, and a little laid-back fashion inspiration. So, here we are! Follow along, or maybe tell your wife to follow along. Prepare to see some of our day-to-day, home improvement, and family life as well. If that’s not your gig, that’s fine too. Either way, have some patience as I navigate the blog space. Before this, I really didn’t even know how to make an Instagram story. I’m getting help.

And as we would say in the deep south, “it’s real good to meet you.”

It is great to see how well you and your family are doing. Miss you in the Air Force but enjoy reserves. 2 1/2 years and I will be done my self. Enjoyed reading your blog.
